Dungeons & Dragons & Mules:

Fantasy Gaming in the Wilderness

August 7 - 12, 2026
6 Days / 5 Nights
Rainbow Pack Outfitters
John Muir Wilderness
$2,000

Venture into the wilderness for an immersive tabletop roleplaying game with Dungeon Master Inmn Neruin. Whether you’re a first time player or a veteran, if you enjoy epic fantasy adventures and spending time in the mountains, this is the trip for you.

Our real life quest begins with a beautiful hike into a cozy backcountry camp, as a pack string of mules brings in our gear. We'll learn about ecology and land stewardship from our Naturalist Guides, as we explore the wilderness surrounding camp, gather for fantasy-themed feasts prepared by a backcountry cook, all while playing an epic Dungeons and Dragons campaign set in an eerily similar fantasy wilderness.

Adventure through strange and beautiful landscapes, discover fantastic flora and fauna, myth come to life, and an unsettling mystery at the heart of a mountain.

    - Your personal hiking and camping gear
    - Travel insurance
    - Staff tips (optional but appreciated)

  • Pre and Post Trip Lodging

We encourage guests to spend a few days before their trip acclimating to the altitude - there are hotels, a hostel, and ample camping in Bishop, many campgrounds in Bishop Creek Canyon, or you can book a cozy cabin at Parcher’s Resort, a 2 minute walk from the Pack Station. You can book a cabin at Parcher’s here

Difficulty - Moderate

Our camp is situated at a high alpine lake about 4 miles from the trailhead. The trail is well-maintained, with beautiful views (we’ll pass by 4 lakes!), but this is the High Sierra, and sections of the trail are steep, switchbacky, and rocky, with significant elevation gain (1k over 4 miles).

We will be near or over 10k feet elevation for the duration of this trip, and folks coming from low elevation will need to spend a few days acclimating before they enter the Wilderness.

The Game

Inmn has crafted an original Dungeons & Dragons 5.5e campaign set in a fantastical wilderness setting.

Across Never: A D&D 5.5e Adventure

The Rainish Conservation Corp has recruited you to explore unsettling rumors of devastation and abnormalities in the Naefrean Wilds around Mount Eorðscake. The last team that went out to investigate hasn’t been heard from in months and the High Council of Narcia is looking for any excuse to send in the army. The remote wildlands lay in the northwest corner of Narcia where monsters are said to still roam. You and your fellow Corp volunteers, made up of ecologists, protectors, and guides will travel deep into the wildlands, far from organized civilization, with the support of a team of pack mules to find out just what’s been going on in the Naefrean Wilds, one of the last truly wild places in Narcia.
